The working environment of an x-ray tube should be: when the ambient temperature is lower than 30 °C, the humidity should be less than 70%. When the ambient temperature is higher than 30 °C, the humidity should less than 50%. If the environment is too wet, thus the humidity in the high-voltage socket of the x-ray tube will discharge and the x ray tube socket will emit a sound of sizzle and the x ray tube and the high voltage cable will be damaged.
In order to prevent the “discharge” and “leakage” caused by such high humidity, the following measures are recommended:
- The x-ray tube should be stored in a clean and dry place. It is recommended to put it in a dry box (with moisture absorber inside).
- The condition for the installation of x-ray tubes should try not be in a humid weather, the relative air humidity should be less than 70%. It is very easy to damage the x-ray tube and high voltage cable when starting up machine in a high temperature and high humidity condition.
- Before plugging the high-voltage cable into the x-ray tube, heat the high-voltage cable head with a hair dryer, and apply high-voltage grease, then take out of the x-ray tube from the drying connector immediately. .
- For a long downtime of an x ray machine, operator can use the x ray tube’s self-heating to eliminate the tube’s humility. First, operate it by using tube voltage (30kV) and tube current (0.5-0.6mA) for half an hour, then gradually increase the tube voltage.
